The past few weeks we saw the financial markets swing back and forth with consumer confidence and unemployment rates at record lows. The number one question we realtors get asked the most is “What do you see the real estate market doing in the next few weeks or months?”  While we do not have that coveted crystal ball, we can relay the hands – on activity and overall feeling of the home buyers and sellers we come in contact with.

The majority of sellers who are on the market at this time are very much wanting to move their properties and are open to creative ways to make it happen. Cash is king as the banks are ridiculously constrictive. The buyers are shopping around and looking at every opportunity before striking. This relays to properties remaining on the market longer than before as they take their time.

Translation:  It obviously is still a “Buyers Market” and will be for some time to come. The revealing museum exhibition boasts over 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, moving-image works, storyboards, puppets, concept artworks, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera, including never before seen personal projects. Many featured objects are from Burton’s own archive, as well as the private collections of Burton’s collaborators. Insider Tip: Kicking off the new exhibition, LACMA is hosting a Tim Burton Book Signing event on Saturday, May 28, starting at 12pm. Fans will have the rare opportunity to have Tim Burton sign the exhibition catalogue, which can be purchased at the LACMA store.

A group of wounded warriors gathered at Morgan Run Golf Club in Fairbanks Ranch on Saturday and received assistance from a local group called the Good Guys.
“These guys as far as I’m concerned and that’s why we’re here to support these heroes,” said Bert Poncher, the co-founder of the Good Guys, a group of golfers who do extraordinary things for the military. “When we started seven years ago, nobody was doing anything… and we said, ‘We should do something for our boys.’ At the time, there was a lot of wounded [and] lot of people getting killed so we started the Good Guys.”
Poncher added, “It’s emotional, so all we care about is getting these fellows and ladies the money and supporting them in any way we can.”

On Saturday, the Good Guys raised $350,000. Each Marine and soldier will receive $5,000 with no strings attached.
“It means much… not so much from the fiscal, but more so the sentiment involved [and] the support they provide to the service members and their families,” said Marine Col. John Schultz.
Poncher said, “There’s no reason we should not support our military. It’s very important to the economy [and] very important to America.”

At the Maritime Museum of San Diego
May 27, 2011 – January 1, 2012

Imagine what treasures one would have seen exploring the Pacific islands in centuries past? The Three Voyages to Paradise exhibit is inspired by those very visions as seen through the eyes of Captain James Cook, author Herman Melville and impressionist painter Paul Gauguin.

Highlighting this extraordinary exhibit are original paintings created by the official expedition artists (William Hodges and John Webber), on James Cook’s second and third Voyages of Discovery. Scientific and navigation instruments from Cook’s time as well as personal effects and Cook memorabilia will also be displayed along with Charts and Pacific artifacts from the period. Paintings, engravings and whaling artifacts representative of Herman Melville’s episodic adventure in the South Seas will be interpreted using select examples of his writings.

Central to the exhibition will be a comprehensive collection of original oil and watercolor paintings, woodblock prints, engravings and sculpture by Paul Gauguin. This exhibit will comprise the largest display of three-dimensional Gauguin masterpieces currently seen anywhere in the world, including a newly discovered Gauguin wood carving on display for the first time in America.
